NA Rosé

I love a long luxurious summer Friday or Saturday, where the only care you have in the world is whether to spend your time at the beach or pool. That’s one of the biggest perks of being from Long Island; we have sand and water just about everywhere. I’m not sure I realized how lucky I was as a kid, until I moved to the middle of the country in my 20s. Rivers are lovely, but they’re not quite the same.

I especially love wrapping up a great day in the Long Island sunshine at one of our favorite spots: Montauk Brewing Company or Wölffer Estate’s Wine Stand. (Wölffer’s tasting room is terrific too, especially in the cooler months.) In the summer, on Friday and Saturday evenings, the Wine Stand has live music by the vines. Weather permitting, you pull up a blanket, bring the entire family, and enjoy a gorgeous sunset. The wine is flowing by the glass or bottle. Kids are running around and dancing. It feels like an enormous picnic.

Wölffer has done a wonderful job of adding non-alcoholic beverages to their lineup so that everyone can enjoy themselves, whether you’re sober, pregnant, the designated driver, or not in the mood for alcohol that day.

Their non-alcoholic Spring in a Bottle Rosé is especially good. It has all of the hallmarks of their sparkling rosé, and absolutely none of the weird flavors or tastes that often occur when you take the alcohol out of wine. It’s refreshing, vibrant, and dry. When I got in the car to drive away from Wölffer that night, I actually second guessed whether it was appropriate to drive home because I felt like I had been drinking wine. Nicely done, Wölffer.

They also offer Spring in a Bottle Blanc de Blancs, Verjus, Red Verjus, and Petit Rosé Verjus. Who says there aren’t good wine options without alcohol???!!!
