Another Top 10

Another Francey Not Fancy favorite made Wine Spectator’s Top 10 Values of 2023!

I’m a huge fan of Saint Cosme, and am thrilled to see their 2022 Côtes-du-Rhône take the 9th spot on the list. At $16.99 on wine.com, I’m not sure you can find a better Rhône Valley value… and this one is super interesting.

Côtes-du-Rhône wines are typically GSM blends: a combination of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. This guy is 100% Syrah, which gives the wine so much more heft and intensity. We’re talking dark cherries, berries, and currants on the nose, plus smooth, creamy tannins and beautiful graphite in your mouth. My husband almost fell off his barstool when we tasted it and I told him the price.

This is a fabulous red wine for cold winter nights. We had it with a terrific eggplant parmesan pasta recipe I was testing out. I’d love it with a ragù or grilled meat.

Saint Cosme is THE estate in Gigondas in the Southern Rhône. If you’re looking for something a little more upscale, their Gigondas ($59.99) , Le Claux Gigondas ($149.99), and Côte-Rôtie ($99.99) are excellent. There’s something here for every budget.
