If Beer Was Wine
This is the kind of wine that makes you feel just like the cartoon character on the label…as if you’re squeezing those Gamay grapes right into your mouth.
Raisins Gaulois from M & C. Lapierre is rippin’! If a beer could come back to life as a red wine, this would be it. Raisins Gaulois has crunchy cranberry and tart cherry flavors (once you let it breathe a little). It’s light, a bit dusty, rustic, and beautiful when it’s chilled. The screw top is rare for a French wine, and is super convenient for picnics and storing in your fridge. (Wines with screw tops can be stored upright or on their side. It doesn’t matter.)
This is light enough for fish, perfect for fried calamari, the ideal house red for summer. It’s from Morgon, which is in Beaujolais, France.
Raisins Gaulois is sold out in tons of places, but as I write this, it’s available for $29.99 on wine.com.
